Imre Lakatos Centenary Conference Contensis

Imre Lakatos Archive

The Philosophy Archives

The Lakatos Archive is a collection of Professor Lakatos’ work from 1936-78 including papers and notes on the philosophy of mathematics and science. This collection also includes International Colloquium papers, desk diaries, paper cuttings and biographical materials contained in the 亚博app下载 Library Records.

Born in Hungary (1922), Imre Lakatos joined Sir Karl Popper at the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1960 and went on to become a Professor of Logic in 1969 until his untimely death in 1974 at the age of 51. Apart from his ground-breaking work on the Methodology of Scientific Research Programmes, the posthumous publication of Lakatos (1977) Proofs and Refutations secured his place among the most important philosophers of mathematics of the 20th century.
