What to expect from contemporary wedding photography
Contemporary photography is currently very popular among brides and grooms-to-be and it is easy to see why. Full of genuine emotion, these photos are absolutely stunning. Contemporary photographers bring a fresh take on wedding portraits, featuring a photojournalistic approach that truly brings viewers into the moment. Today’s style of wedding photography places importance on telling a story of a wonderful day: your wedding day.
As contemporary is basically another word for modern, photos defined as “contemporary” are going to change as time goes by. For example, during the 1980s, a staged wedding photo was still considered contemporary. It was not until a decade later that wedding photographers began to explore a photojournalism approach to wedding portraits. At that time, minimalism was all the rage with the modern photographers. Why minimalist wedding photos certainly pushed the boundaries, they also ended up looking dated by the end of the decade. Since then, contemporary wedding photography has advanced greatly, given the new photo technology that has become available in recent years. The new modern includes the same photojournalistic approach that became popular in the 90s, but with a vintage twist that makes the style acceptable for those who err towards classic and traditional.
The biggest reason to invest in a wedding photographer for the big day is that your photos will end up being a lot more memorable. Other styles of wedding photography are noted for their stiff and awkward poses, but this is rarely seen in contemporary pictures. A contemporary wedding portrait will be something that you’ll be proud to put up on the wall for all to see. If you are into a more modern style of interior design, the photos will look amazing in your apartment or house, but they will also fit in with a more traditional style of furniture and decor. The same applies to scrapbooking. You can make an amazing wedding scrapbook with a diverse set of wedding photos while taking advantage of several different layouts and embellishment styles.
If you choose a contemporary wedding photographer, there will be little prep work for you to do. The photographer will take care of all the details. The most important piece of advice is to try to relax and ignore the photographer. The aim of the photographer is to catch you in the moment, and this is impossible if you keep checking in on him or her. If you’ve done your research ahead of time and chosen a wedding photographer with high customer ratings, you should be able to put your trust in your photographer and let him or her do all the work.
